Otter by CloudKitchens

A back-of-house AI platform designed to empower restaurant operators. Otter connects multiple delivery platforms into one seamless interface—streamlining operations and boosting performance through actionable data insights.

Cultivating my technical skills during an internship at a CloudKitchens in Paris was an invaluable experience. Working closely with the BI team, I immersed myself in real-world data tools such as Google BigQuery, utilizing it to extract specific data from databases. Additionally, I was actively involved in designing data pipelines using Figma and crafting visually appealing presentations and dashboards for clients using Data Looker Studio.

Create interactive data dashboards that help restaurant operators analyze key metrics like HR, sales, inventory, and performance in real-time

User Research Pain Points

Challenges Faced by Restaurant Owners:

Lack of centralized data

Many restaurant operators struggled with managing data from various platforms (e.g., POS, delivery services, inventory management).

Limited data insights

Restaurant owners often lacked easy-to-read dashboards for key operational metrics like sales, employee performance, or inventory usage.

Time-consuming processes

Manual reporting or fragmented systems resulted in slow decision-making and inefficiencies.

To prioritize walk-in insights, we designed the business overview to give restaurant owners a clear snapshot of key metrics at a glance, with the ability to drill down into detailed data. Based on user feedback, we refined features to encourage regular check-ins, helping owners identify opportunities for improvement. This focused approach transforms the app from a passive dashboard into an active decision-making tool that supports business growth.

Designing data dashboards for Otter taught me the importance of simplifying complex information into actionable insights. By focusing on clarity and usability, we empowered restaurant owners—many without technical backgrounds—to make smarter, faster decisions about staffing, sales, and inventory. This project reinforced the value of user-centered thinking, especially when designing tools that directly impact daily business operations.
